Tom Hill teaches an introductory waltz class from 7 to 9 pm in the downstairs room. To get the most from this class, try to start at 7pm. Excellent first time class
Stan Isaacs is teaching intermediate classes from 7 to 9pm
7-8: Dance with the Castles - steps from Vernon and Irene' Castles one step and Castle waltk, especially work on pivot turns. Pivoting is one of the fun dance steps in waltzing.
8-9: Mazurka-waltz variations including the Redowa step, which is a 'jumping' step very popular with long term Friday Night Waltz dancers. Highly recommended.
Stan has been teaching Vintage Waltz since 1958. In the mid-1980s, he discovered Vintage Dancing when he sponsored a workshop with Richard Powers at his folk dance group. In 1987, Stan and his wife, Karen Kalinsky, started the Pomander Club, a venue for Vintage Dancing in Palo Alto, California. The club met weekly on Monday nights to learn and dance vintage dances. Stan has taught at numerous folk festivals and weekend workshops
$12 for both the classes and the dance. $8 dance only. No partner necessary. All Ages. Casual comfortable attire. Under 18 must be accompanied by parent or guardian.
