Our ALAMEDA Friday Night Waltz location is moving to Second Saturdays at the Oakland Veterans Hall, 200 Grand Avenue Oakland CA X Harrison.

A beautiful dance hall, with 3,500 square foot hardwood floor, lots of socializing space, easy access, great parking. Three Waltz Classes running at the same time:

an introductory waltz class from 7 to 9 in the Dance Lounge taught by Tom Hill

an intermediate polka class from 7 to 9 in the Main ballroom, taught by Richard Powers.

an advanced waltz class from 7 to 9 in the upstairs Lakeview Room

We also are having an Irish Ceili class/dance from 7 to 9 pm also.

Richard Powers is teaching Bohemian National Polka in the intermediate class from 7 to 9 in the main Ballroom.Richard also will be teaching additional "freestyle polka variations", which have actually never been taught at Friday Night Waltz. The Bohemian National Polka is a very popular Friday Night Waltz dance.

from Richard's website:The Bohemian National Polka by Richard Powers is based on a reconstruction by the Czech dance historian Frantisek Bonus (1919-1999). It is intended to portray the steps and forms of the original 1830s National Style of Polka from Bohemia, ten years before "polkamania" swept the world.

Tom Hill teaches an introductory waltz class from 7 to 9 pm in the downstairs room. To get the most from this class, try to start at 7pm. Excellent first time class.

Richard Powers is our Waltz DJ tonght from 9 to 12. Richard has not dj'ed or taught in the East Bay for about 2 years.

All ages, Comfortable attire. No partner necessary. We rotate rapidly in class.
